Morris Family Favorites

I wanted to make a list of a few things that make life grand around the Morris house. Majority of the items are related to the baby boys but that's what life is about these days. If anyone has something they think I should try, please leave a comment.

Maybe everyone knows about Sandra Boynton but I just learned about her. She's been around for decades but I didn't discover her books until my sister in law gave Moo,Baa, La La La to Fletcher. This is only a small part of our collection. Fletcher LOVES Pookie and asks to read these books multiple times a day. I know most of them by heart and I sing the words.(if you know the books, you will understand the singing) Anytime I want to get the boy's attention, I can start singing one of these books and they stop and look.

We watch a lot of Sesame Street. Fletcher didn't really watch any TV until Finn was born and I needed something to entertain him on occasion while I was dealing with a newborn. He fell in love with Elmo and has now come to love the whole show. Danny hates even hearing the music;)

This is pretty much all we listen to in the car. If it doesn't come on when we get in, Fletcher will say "I want to hear Jesus". I love hearing him sing in the back seat. When Danny gets in the car he will say "Can we PLEASE listen to something else". (though I have seen him tapping his thumb to the beat on occasion)

These blankets are from PBK and are the only thing I don't make the boys share. When Fletcher gets in trouble he starts crying for "bankie" and Finn buries his face in his and rolls around. The animal is the Sleep Sheep. I am a very firm believer in a bed time routine and both of the boys fall asleep to the heart beat sound. You can take the noise maker out and take it with you while traveling. The smaller version doesn't have the heartbeat just so you know. We followed the book Baby Wise with Fletcher for sleep training. I can't say enough about it! If you are expecting a little one, you MUST read this book.

Who doesn't love band aids. We wear them for fun around here.

I have heard a lot of people say they can't get their kids to drink milk once they take the bottle away. This is our solution. I used Dr. Brown bottles with Fletcher. There are way to many parts to wash! I used Avent with Finn and loved them. Some people complain about them leaking but I'm not sure why. All you have to do is make sure you screw the top on well (fitting the grooves). Fletcher drank formula and loved his bottle so when the time came to take the bottle away, I was worried. We tried lots of cups with no luck. I found this Born Free training cup with a soft spout and gave it to him one night before bed (in the dark) and he drank his milk just fine. Finn nurses and didn't care about the bottle anyway so he is already using this cup with pumped breast milk and does fine. They are pricey but whatever works.

These are our strollers. The BOB is great. We have had this stroller since Fletcher was a newborn. We didn't get the stroller/car seat combo. I always thought those were so bulky. The BOB has a car seat adapter you can hook to it but we would just lay the seat flat and wrap Fletch in blankets and lay him in it. This stroller is so light and moves easy. When we found out about Finn, I wanted a double stroller since they are so close in age and Fletcher isn't ready to walk beside me in the mall, etc. I looked at a lot of strollers and fell in love with the Bumbleride Indie Twin. It fits in doorways, glides like a dream, and the seat and foot rest move to many positions. It is pricey but my incredible coworkers in Vegas all chipped in to get it for me. Can you believe it!! They are the BEST!!!! I may tear up just talking about them.

Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair!! You do not need a full size high chair. This one is GREAT. We move it all over the house. It comes in handy when I need to strap them in to get things done around here. It fits in the kitchen, living room, and bathroom. It reclines and sits in your dining room chair when you're feeding the little ones.

I'm not sure what Danny would do if something happened to ESPN. This is the only channel he knows by heart. Luckily, I love watching sports too.

Danny needs to have books around. He feels better when he's holding one, even if he's really watching ESPN. Fletcher wanted to make sure Daddy was thinking of him at work so he decorated his favorite book with stickers while we weren't looking.

These last two are for me. Coffee and beer, don't judge.

  1. Love the last two! ha ha ha. Your Sesame Street post cracked me up as well. Parker got a pair of boxers the other day with Oscar the Grouch and called him his Selma Street boxers. I laughed forever! He was a little confused on the name! ha ha
